A perfect spot for a quiet relaxing holiday for couples or families. Lodges are spotlessly clean and the hottub is great!! There are 2 great pubs in the nearby village just a short walk away. Absolutely loved our stay, we will be back.
Second time staying here with friends. Absolutely no faults with this place. Immaculately clean, well equipped and such a relaxing location. Lawrence the site manager goes above and beyond to make sure your stay is a happy one.
Lovely place and would recommend this place but beware of the not so nice reception guy Lawrence. Expect to be talked to like a child about the rules and the £150 u have to pay on a card incase of any breakages. I understand why this is done and have no objection to it, but very odd to be greeted as I did ? Couldn't fault the lady who showed us around and the lodge itself was lovely and clean, just what we wanted for a break away with some friends. Lots of places to see around this area ie Lightwater Valley and the campsite called Sleniford Mill about 20 mins walk away has a brilliant river to paddle in. Hot tub was great temperature and seated all 6 of us comfortably. Very peaceful quiet location. The lodge could do with an extra towel pp as only one, really need one for hot tub and one for showering and a mop. Thankyou, we had a fabulous weekend minus the grumpy bloke on reception.
There are some good points about Cedar Retreats and also some things that really do need a bit more thought and improvement, particularly considering this is a property that pitches itself as “luxury.”THE GOOD: • The Lodge (we were in a Swinton 3 bed) was clean and beautifully designed. It really was immaculate.• The park itself is in a really easy to find place but is also very quiet too, which is a lovely combination• The staff (I met Danni and Lawrence) were very friendly and helpful•Hot tubs at every lodge. Winner!•Park itself is compact and really clean•Genuinely a pleasant environmentTHE NEEDS-IMPROVING• Every picture of a “typical Swinton,” on the Hoseasons website shows a lodge with a fenced in decking area. And the description describes a private decking area. We arrived to find there was no fencing around the decking at all and it was difficult to describe is as private on that basis. We were travelling with a 2 and a 4 year old. So this meant there was no way we would be able to leave the doors open or anything while we were inside and let them go in and out freely as we like to. We go to holiday parks several times a year and one of the main things we look for is a fenced outdoor area for the benefit of our children so this was a real disappointment. More disappointing was that almost every other lodge on the park did have fenced decking. Maybe the fact we booked last minute meant we just got what was left? Who knows?!• No privacy screening around the hot tub. This is a bit of an issue I think. All the hot tubs are very open and only one or two have any sort of screening. I think when you’re in and out of a hot tub in your swimwear a bit of privacy screening is something you’d hope for• The window blinds are incredibly ineffective at keeping any light out. Nobody in our party slept beyond 6am any day for this reason and the kids were up at the crack of dawn. The blinds look nice. But in the bedrooms they sat an inch or two in front of the windows rendering them useless at keeping the light out. It’s those small details that, I think, really make the difference and you just expect a luxury park to have considered • Restrictive check in times. We got an email at 1pm the day before we were due to arrive telling us the check in is between 4pm and 6pm. Fortunately I check my emails regularly so I picked it up that night, but plenty of others could miss that. We were planning to leave after work so weren’t able to make it for 6 so I had to call up the morning of our arrival and pay the pre authorisation amount on card so they could leave the key in a key safe for us. It was easy enough from there but a bit inconvenient and it is something they should tell you on booking. Our booking confirmation just said “starts at 4pm.”Perhaps more inconvenient than this though is that as well as calling up before arrival to pay the pre authorisation and so on, I was then told I had to go to reception before midday on the following morning after arrival to complete the formal check in procedure. That was all good and well but we were due to leave the lodge for a planned day out at 8:30 and reception didn’t open till 9. So there’s a call, then having to hang around and wait for reception to open on day 2 of your break when I imagine loads of people like to get up and out early, particularly with young children. For many it might not be an issue at all. But for family travellers with young children, I can throw things out of sync a bit•No air con. And it was very very hot!•The water pressure in the shower was very poor. ON THE WHOLE:It wasn’t a bad place to spend a few days. We booked last minute and paid £449 for a Friday to Monday break. But according to Hoseasons, the full price should have been over £700. At that latter price, you can book Some really luxurious parks! So for the money we paid, I think it was lacking in some areas. But I didn’t leave feeling ripped off or anything and fundamentally, we all had a lovely break. But had I paid over £700, I’d have felt pretty miffed.
The place we have rented for weekend is lovely. Well set out. Jacuzzi. Clean and well equipped.
